Planning to move into Biotech ER. I have a masters from McGill, 3 years of R&D experience as Scientist. What are my chances ? Or is it going to be extremely challenging? Shd i do SIE and CFA even before i apply?

I don't think you would need the CFA since you already got masters. Would recommend getting SIE and some practice with wallstreetprep or other trainings. The CFA does provide a good boost though. Would rather spend the time networking with ER analysts.
Definitely ask Biotech ER analysts on LinkedIn.
Definitely don’t need CFA for biotech… literally makes no sense
My masters is in biomedical engineering. So my finance knowledge is kind of zero. I really thought CFA would help me as a candidate.
You’re a freshman…
Why move to the public markets?
More interested in the studying the biotech industry rather than focus on scientific research on a specific area.
Gonna be tough because you’re Canadian. Plenty of US MD / PhD kids who are gunning for these seats. You’d have to show you’re insanely good at the job which is difficult to do from your position.
Even Canadian banks have all us analysts based in the states
I'm actually currently in the US. Relocated recently. Do you think its hard to break in w/o MD/ PhD ? I was planning on taking level 1 CFA to help my chances.
Won’t the bank have to sponsor you still?
Its possible without but MDs and PhDs are having trouble doing it in this market. Best to try rn but dont get discouraged if you aren’t getting traction in this market.
IMO CFA for biotech doesn’t make a difference wouldn’t waste your time or money on it. Would love to hear if others have different thoughts
