Laid off IB Analyst: Go to ER or Pod?
Unfortunately got hit with a layoff/RIF after 2 years of IB at BB. Was transferred to internal strategy role at the same bank.
Interested in transitioning to public equities. Have several friends at pods which sound like compelling opportunities, but I feel like I really don't have enough experience to be successful at a pod. I believe I need a genuine baseline training in public equities, and I had relatively weak deal reps in IB. I've mostly been applying to just ER opportunities. I also possibly see the sell side as being a better fit for me personally. However, am I doing myself a disservice by not at least trying to interview for pods?
Thanks everyone!

Bump. I’d apply anywhere and everywhere man. You need a job
You can certainly apply for those roles as well as get your resumes to the mercury partners/selby jennings/alexander chapmans of the world. But if I was you I would figure out why you want to make that transition, since in some ways you're starting over moving from the private to the public side. Have you considered networking with any analysts internally now that you *probably* don't have compliance in the way to build that relationship?
This is a troll right? Those are joke recruiters… please talk to a more reputable ER search firm
Feel free to contribute to the conversation. It's a starting point for OP since the low quality search firms are always hocking some role he could interview for to get some exposure.
What are the more reputable headhunters for ER? The only other ones I’ve interacted with are Long Ridge Partners, Pinpoint Partners, and DSP. They seem far less frequent than the others.
Try interviewing for pods, maybe try the lower tier pods to get some interview experience, or you could also try sell side ER. I’ve seen some people who got laid off from IB join ER. Have 3-4 pitches ready for the interview and networking
Other than coverage analyst role (VP+), banks will post all analysts/ associates roles on their websites/ LinkedIn so you don’t need recruiters. Best bet is to find out who is the hiring manager and send your resume directly/ ask to chat about potential opening.
This is absolutely not true
What part is not true
which bank?
In my experience all BB post their analyst/associate roles on the website/Linkedin for tracking purpose and to reach out as many candidates as possible.
