Looking for Advice on how to get a BB internship

I am going into my junior year at a non-target. Currently I am working at a small sized asset manager as an equity research intern. I have learned a lot so far throughout my internship and like the people, but I don’t think there is as much upside compared to being at a larger firm in NYC/Chicago.

I have tried to network a decent bit for ER internships next summer, but have not gained much traction. I think I am struggling to highlight my internship/other experiences when talking to people rather than failing the airport test. Does anybody have any advice on how to get my foot into the door for research?
