How I Work - Rufiolove Edition

Current gig: Private Equity Associate

Location: New York, NY

Current mobile device: iPhone 5, iPad II both synced with office network and Outlook

Current computer: Lenovo Thinkpad with Windows 7, Office 2007, Twin 21.5" Acer Widescreen LCD monitors, (at home dinosauric Toshiba Crash Prone POS)

One word that describes how you work: SWAG

What apps/software/tools can't you live without? Office Suite, CapIQ, TheChive, Bloomberg, TechCrunch, Soundcloud, Evernote, Mailbox, Tinder, WSO, RapGenius, Todoist, YouTube... This list is by no means exhaustive

What's your workspace setup like? Pretty boring, honestly. Side-by-side monitors connected to my laptop, keyboard sans F1 & Caps Lock keys, research reports, investor presentations, Black n' Red notebooks, CIMs, calculator, Snapple Green Tea and water bottles, pictures from Ibiza, and pictures of my future wife, Olivia Munn (I called dibs).

What do you listen to while you work? A lot EDM across the spectrum from trance to progressive house, throwback gems (Eddie Money, Kenny Loggins, The Outfield, Tracy Chapman etc.)... Soundcloud, Hypem, Earmilk, Thissongissick, etc are excellent for music discovery.

What's your best time-saving trick? No longer being in banking

What's your favorite to-do list manager? Todoist and Outlook

What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else? Giving zero fucks

What's your sleep routine like? Super stoked about this one... Since I broke up with banking, I have been getting ~6 hours per night during the week and on weekends I've been sleeping as much as I want to.

Fill in the blank. I'd kill to see _________ answer these same questions. Mahbod Moghadam, Tom Lehman, Ilan Zechory (the collective force behind RapGenius), Porter Robinson, Pierce Fulton, The O.G. "P. Curtis" of WSO fame (formerly of Tailwind Capital and Rothschild), swagon (RIP), Nick Woodman, Mark Cuban, and Ron Swanson

What's the best advice you've ever received? Never make the same mistake twice.

Is there anything else you'd like to add? Drinking with Eddie, Patrick, and Andy Louis is the bomb. I love the WSO and am constantly impressed by the creativity, contribution, and community of its membership. I'm going to try to get more content out there for you guys soon.

Oh sure...some people just need to make their own threads about it. You and Eddie can't be in the same thread as the rest of us proles hah.

Good stuff though, for sure.

You guys really need to upgrade to office 2013. It's the best version I've ever seen.

Are you fucking kidding? That half second lag between cell switches in Excel in the name of prettiness?
"Mr. Perkins poses an extreme risk to the market when drunk."

How's Todoist? I usually start in one of those task manager apps...then eventually get fed up and head back to the ole' legal pad.

Please don't quote Patrick Bateman.

Same thing happens to me constantly. I'd like to hear a review of Todoist.
Maximum effort.

I stopped using tinder a few weeks ago… too many douches for my liking lol. My coworker showed me cliqie . com and I’m a big fan of that over the others in terms of actually meeting people vs. just entertainment. It has a different approach that feels less sketchy cause you and your friends essentially act as “wingmen”. I like that it helps you find things to do too. Skout’s okay too, but still has it’s fair share of creepers

Gonna have to say that I'll continue to go old school and meet women in real life.

My drinkin' problem left today, she packed up all her bags and walked away.
