whole team poached from CS, has some heavy hitters (ex head of CS EMEA IB, giuseppe monarchi)
How the culture?
Probably should be a question posed to the cs/ubs crowd, considering it's run by their ex head of CS EMEA IB. Maybe change title to attract them to the thread
Are you interviewing?
No, just interested in the group
Everything TMT at evercore, whether that's London or New York has strong deal flow so expect long hours. Regarding culture, genuinely just speak to anyone that was cs emea to get a gauge of how the smd is like. Personally have not heard anything bad
thanks everyone!
any insights on modelling and any tips on how to better understand the industry (currently going through annual/quarterly reports, presentations, earning calls of top 5 EU telecoms)
Any particular reason why you don't want to stay in HC? PM me if needed.
Agree with anon comment so far — team got poached from CS in 2023, and is one of the newer teams. I spoke to the director of the team last year summer when the team was being built out, he personally seemed really chill and down to earth based on the convo I had but didn’t really speak on the culture since he was new at the time. He also told me about the various sub-sectors, how there’s a fair amount of asset divestitures within the sector as opposed to acquiring a whole company and explained other telecoms specific stuff to me like how data towers & infrastructure are favoured over other sub-sectors due to predictable revenue, limited maintenance capex and relatively high barriers to entry.
So far they advised Lumen on its divestiture of its EMEA business to Colt Technology Services for ~$1.8bn, and are now advising Swisscom on a pending €8bn acquisition of Vodafone Italia from Vodafone Group.
T.A. is ultra chill
Big facts
US Comms team + LDN Infra team did the Lumen / Colt deal in 2022 before CS team was poached FWIW.
Didn’t know the infra team worked on it too, thanks for clarifying!
Off topic a bit but CS C&R was poached by PJT right?
Pretty sure London C/R team moved to UBS
Any1 interviewing?
Didn’t see any FT roles open
It’s an OC role, not a lateral FT role.
Are firsts out?
Have no idea but they closed apps on 5th June so maybe they’re shortlisting candidates or something
