CV Review - please rip my CV apart

I will be applying for summer internships at the BB (JPMC, Goldman, MS) and the elite boutiques (Rothchilds, Lazard) in the Autumn. I'm looking for constructive criticism to my CV.

In particular, I would be interested in which bullet points are weakest and could be removed. I'm hoping to get some more leadership experience to add to my CV. I also want each bullet point to add value - if a bullet point does not add value, it makes the CV look less mature.

I'd be really interested hearing from Analysts whether (if they received my CV) they would want to read the cover letter or offer an interview. If not, how can the CV be improved for next year? Where do you think the weaknesses are (is it the structure or achievements).

I will be applying for IBD in London. Please be brutal.

I would highly suggest the WSO Resume Review Service. Full disclosure: I am on the WSO Resume Review Service team, so I have a financial incentive to recommend it, but I only do so because I used the service twice in undergrad and was very happy with how my resume looked like afterwards.

Some things you should look at:

  • Way, way, WAY too much white space. If I were a potential employer, I would not even bother to read it because of the poor formatting.

  • Get rid of your Deloitte internship. Resumes are for accomplishments, not planned accomplishments. There's a reason I don't list "incoming CEO" on my resume.

  • You need more numbers and metrics on your resume. Right now, your resume reads like you've been along for the ride the entire time. What have you personally accomplished?

  • Your interests line needs some serious work. Get rid of the political stuff. Traveling is not a valid interest. You need interests that are unique, involve active participation, and are not controversial.
