Pandemic Turnover?
I was wondering if anyone's ER department has experienced massive turnover since the start of the pandemic?
I just quit ER, but the materials research team I am on almost completely turned over during the pandemic. Around 8 Associates left in less than a twelve month period. To put it in perspective, we maybe had 1 Associate leave per year. The most senior Associate in our Research team has now been there less than a year. Things look pretty bad, but I was wondering if this is being seen elsewhere.

What are the reasons why people are leaving? Company specific or industry specific reasons?
Bit of both. Equity Research is dying, but our department head is an ass and doesn't know how to manage people. He wants face-time to come back and is ready to call people back in the office.
Why is equity research dying?
What jobs did they go to after leaving?
Some IB, others Corp Dev or tech
are you at a BB?
Big 5 in Canada
where did you go after leaving?
There was eerily no turnover for a bit and then starting in about March there was a ton. Thought it was mostly pent-up demand for moving, plenty of analysts switching shops, associates switching shops, some moving over to the buyside as well. Haven't seen many corporate exits though.
