Do you wear a tie everyday to work?
I personally would hate to wear a tie EVERY single day. Is wearing a tie the norm in the finance industry? I know a few places or regions where the lifestyle is very laid back and ties are not required unless you have to meet with a client or something. In my current job we have to dress nice but...

Don't like trading - how do I switch?
Hey everyone, I need WSO's combined wisdom about my situation. Instead, I think that I would be a great fit on the Asset Management side of things. While I...

Is it possible to go to a macro fund (or any hedge fund for that matter) from a sales role? Will certainly be difficult I understand, but not even from macro sales? How many banks does a typical 2-5bln+ fund trade with?
So I was wondering how many banks a typical 2-5 billion dollar fund might be open with. From my experience it seems like a lot of these funds are only open with say 2-3 max banks which means they have to use other means to get their research.
Millburn Corporation
Has anyone heard of the Millburn Corporation with offices in CT, NYC and Chicago?

HF Pay After IB Analyst Stint
This may be a stupid question because the numbers probably vary so much but I wanted to hear what people have heard. I was curious what type of total comp is "normal" for someone moving to a long/short equity fund with around $7BN+ in AUM after finishing up an IB analyst program. I would assume at...

Best Entry Level Job for Running Future Hedge Fund

The director of Goldman Sachs ' largest hedge fund has departed. He was one of the few people at the firm who made $100 million in annual bonus back in 2006. Couple of questions for people in banking/hedge fund/PE
First of all, I'd appreciate it if you guys can answer a couple of questions. My first question is, what college is better if I want to break into the industry, I can...

What are the exit opps like after spending a year or so at a top name HF? Bunch of my class has started leaving to move on, but have not yet ironed out next steps, and was wondering what the likely next step was. Background of my analyst class (for the most part): Target Ivy undergrad, economics...

Why do some funds ( SAC , Citadel ) seem to have a much larger number of employees (even after accounting for AUM)? Is there a investment banking BB vs. boutique complex here? How would one of these larger, better known funds compare to some of the well-regarded tiger cubs (Maverick, Lone Pine ) in...

Math Major - Currently at a target
Hey guys, I am currently at a target school, and I've read discussions about this on here before and know that being at a target kind of implies you don't need to make your major industry specific but I was wondering if math was an exceptional case.
