GPA Question - Online apps
I have a 3.59 now. I round off to a 3.6 in my resume, and I don't anticipate any problem with that. So, when online apps ask for GPA to 2 decimal places, would I run into a problem if I put in a 3.60?
GPA - At 3.55 competitive?
I know this is just another thread about gpa. I am a long time reader of this site, and I know that there is a strong emphasis on gpa in the IB recruiting process. I am starting to freak out a little though. My freshman year went fine and I pulled a 3.7. However, my sophomore year I loaded up on...
IB as 2nd bachelor's in finance or after pharma work

Taking CHINESE to boost GPA?
I speak and write Chinese perfectly. To boost my GPA can I take some Chinese language courses?? Will firms ask for my transcript and reject me for taking my native language? I know what I am trying to do is terrible but I want to hear your opinions. Thank you in advance.
HR Doesn't Know How to Read = Ruined My Life
Accepted an SA offer from a top BB for Tokyo office. Everything was dandy until background check, I was asked for an official transcript. I did not lie about my cumulative gpa. I dont know if the transcript for my school (US) is typical. They way my school does it is that it categorizes by semester...
Ugh frustrating GPA rounding on resume question
CGPA: 3.86 Major GPA: 3.96 How would you round this on your resume? At first I was thinking "cGPA: 3.9/4.0, major GPA: 4.0/4.0" but then I realized it would be a bit deceptive since I didn't really get a perfect major GPA. But if I do "cGPA: 3.9/4.0, major GPA: 3.96/4.00" people might ask, why did...
credit report
Hello guys, whats a good credit score to have once your out of college and you have loans. Is it okay to have a score in the 600, 700s. Also, when BB 's are going to a background check would a 600 or 700 hurt you.
GPA to get interviews
What GPA should I aim for as an Economics major at a top public (Michigan, Berkley, etc.) to get SA interviews at MBB , Booz & Co, Monitor, Deloitte, etc? Also am I shooting myself in the foot by not being a business major at their respective undergraduate business programs (Ross, Haas)?
Chances
Hey everyone, So I think its time to go back to school. Wanted to see what everyone thought about my chances.. -Princeton Undergrad (Economics) -3.0 cum GPA but 3.5 GPA my last two years -710 GMAT -3 years experience at PwC Advisory when starting MBA program -Excellent extra-currics (started various...
Just how easy is obtaining a PWM job?
While I have been searching this website, it appears that a PWM job is much easier to obtain than IB or S&T . Although this may be true, what credentials do you need to get a job at a top BB or a reputable MM firm? Are analyst positions still dead end jobs at top firms? is a reputable MBA possible?...
Freshman at a Non-Target
I'm currently a freshman at a non-target, private school in Buffalo, New York. It is highly respected in this area, however outside of Western New York it has little prestige. I have talked with a couple of Finance and Economics professors here and they have informed me that we have a few alumni in...
Freshman GPA - I fucked up.
I just calculated my grades and I end up with a 3.0 (if I'm lucky, possible 2.9) for my freshman year. I'm absolutely stunned and never thought this could happen to me. My only worthwhile marks are Economics with an A and Accounting at a B+. Everything else is absolutely disastrous and it feels like...
Messed GPA, what jobs can i get?
Had a terrible year and will be ending with a ~3.0 gpa after junior year. I've pretty much given up on finance, what other career options do I have that make 50k a year?
3.4/3.5 GPA, no SA offers this summer, OPS or Commercial Banking?
I am currently finishing up my junior year at a non-target and will have a ~3.4-3.5 (business/finance major) by the end of this semester. I originally wanted to do investment banking but I clearly don't have the grades for it anymore. My work experience is just a couple summers at a regional pwm ,...

What do these major-GPA combos tell you?
Say you' re a MBB recruiter. You're looking at candidates from a target school for interviews. What are your initial thoughts at each one? I just want to see all of your thoughts, all feedback is appreciated. 1. International Relations major with a 3.8 2. Comparative Literature major, Economics...
Freshman, stuck between two internships...
I'm a freshman at a target, not very spectacular gpa (3.2-ish, though I expect it to go up). I go to school in a pretty hot area for IB activity, tho I'm going to be home this summer--where I live is pretty IB-dry. My goal is to land an IB internship after junior year, and land an IB full-time after...
Getting a summer internship (Not the usual story, please read)
Hello I was planning to write this in prose, but I figured nobody would care to read. So, I reduced my life story to bullet points - a. Poor family in third world country, bed-ridden father and piling debts. Had to work part and full-time jobs since 14 to run family. b. Been interested in buying and...
GPA vs Knowledge
I've been struggling with this debate for some time. I am currently at a crossroads in my academic plan, and wanted to seek some advice from WSO . I understand the recruiting game, and honestly, at Wharton, where I am in my second year, interviews are based pretty much on GPA. Experience plays a...
Question about no putting GPA on resume
Got an interview with a boutique where I'm going to school in Los Angeles. If I didn't include GPA on resume could I expect it to come up in interview and how do I explain so it doesn't make like I'm just making up an excuse for a lower GPA. Thanks
Using "Senior Year GPA"
I noticed the M&I resume guide advises against using Senior (Soph, Jr., etc) unless you have a special circumstance. Well long story short (blah blah blah) I finally got my ass working senior year and got a 3.96/4 and Deans Honor List. My overall GPA is 3.38 and my major gpa is 3.7. I really want to...
GPA for KKR, TPG, Carlyle, etc.
before anyone says "troll" or whatever, what I'm asking is if an analyst is already working for a solid investment banking group right below GS TMT /MS M&A (e.g. JPM M &A, GS Industrials , etc.), how much will a low GPA hurt for recruiting with the megafunds? it seems like they like to take kids...
Msc Finance, competitiveness and chances
Hey guys, I'd just like some insight on my chances in some masters program I'm applying to (or consideting). A bit about my profile: -3.1 GPA in computer engineering at McGill. (3.3 in my last 2 years, i kinda had a really bad start). Im currently in my last semester. -GMAT 690 (q:48 v37) -Some work...
SA Superday with GPA problem on resume
Allow me to preface this by just stating that I need some advice. I got to HYP and have a few superdays at a few middle-market banks coming up next Wednesday. I expect to do fairly well on them since I know my material thoroughly so I expect a few offers. Moreso, I have gotten along well with those...
GPA Resume Question
I currently have a cumulative gpa of around 3.2 Double major of psych and econ. Psych is a 3.7 while econ is a 3.1. Should I try to give HR a heads up while I am applying? Note both gpa's on my resume?? I currently only have my cumulative. I've been getting rejected for interviews by a few boutiques...
GPA Question for SA - am I in trouble?
I have been applying to SA this year, my applications were due on the 10th and my grades for the fall weren't out yet, so I attached my transcript showing n/a for those grades (didn't alter it at all). I didn't have a good semester and my cumulative gpa went from 3.8 (which i listed on my resume) to...
Resume: Grad School GPA On/Off?
First of all, let me say this is a general resume question (as opposed to an IB-specific resume question, since I'm applying to a wide range of jobs/industries). I received a 3.1 during my master's in economics, and am not sure whether I should list it on my resume or not? I can think of two reasons...
3.4 GPA at Stern, what can I do?
So I am junior at Stern with a 3.4 GPA, I am interested in IBD but I've read from these boards that a 3.7 is standard at the BB 's and even boutiques. Recruiting season is coming up in the Spring semester, and I am wondering whether I should shoot for IBD or try and get an internship in another...
Am I swimming upstream? Should I float downriver?
I am 27 years old and have been working for a midcap non-financial company as a financial analyst for a couple years. I have a business degree from a non-target state school with a 3.4 GPA. I am also currently working on a Masters of Science in Financial Analysis at a reputable but still non-target...

Path: state school -> cc -> semi-target GPA (respectively): 3.4, 3.7, 3.0 Bad last year due to medical issues, but hoping I can present myself as best as possible. How should I put this on my resume? List individual? List individual + combined? List none? Thanks
Using Last Semester's GPA
Hi Everyone, I am a sophomore at a target and am looking for possible summer internships. My GPA up to this point has been very high at a 3.9. However, I relaxed a bit this past fall semester and was just a bit tired of school. Although some of my grades have not come out yet, I predict that my...
Looking for quick insight from actual recruiters
Will a bank rescind an offer for rounding GPA from a 3.449 to a 3.5?
Should I Graduate or Should I Apply to SA Positions?
Hey guys! I hope you're all having a great holiday season! I apologize in advance for the following long, but hopefully interesting story. :)
Weird Classroom Experiences: Classes, Professors, & Grades
I was wondering if you guys wanted to share some school experiences - specifically, instances where you had strange classes, professors, and/or grades. e.g. I once took a class that was heralded as the toughest finance class at my school. The professor was a former VP at a BB bank, started and sold...
Is last semester's GPA okay???
So my semester just ended pretty recently. Im wondering if its okay to use my GPA prior to last semester. I'm applying to some SA positions and unfortunately, my GPA dropped from 3.6 to 3.54. I also only have a copy of my transcript prior to last semester and need to apply immediately as i'll be...
Undergrad bschool GPA vs Cum GPA
I transfered into the undergrad bschool of the same school. My total GPA is a 3.7, but my bschool GPA is a 4.0 (my concentration is also a 4.0). My transcript doesn't combine the GPAs, and shows College Cumulative: 3.6 and Bschool Cumulative 4.0. Is it misleading to list on my resume: "Cumulative...
Major GPA for double major
I'm majoring in finance and econ and have a 3.3 cumulative GPA. When I calculate my major GPA including finance and econ, it's 3.4, but if I just include finance, it's a more attractive 3.6. Technically, finance is my major and the business school is my home college within the University, I just...
GS TMT, MS M&A, Elite Boutiques (GHL, Laz, etc.), PE (BX, Bain Cap, etc.)
Out of curiosity, does a high-achieving Dartmouth student (3.9+, summa cum laude) have a shot at these groups and firms?
4.3 GPA,? how to put it on a a resume?
Hey everyone, So i'm an engineering undergrad and I just finished up some nondegree/premba grad business courses, and according to my unofficial transcript, I have a 4.3 Cumulative GPA (A+) If i put 4.3 on my resume for these courses, will recruiters/MDs/VPs think I made a typo or that i'm an idiot?...
Majors+GPA+Internships Question
I am currently in penultimate year doing Actuarial Science & Finance double majors with CGPA of 3.6. My problem is I am trying to push my GPA over 3.8 but my actuarial courses (which are pretty tough) are pressuring my GPA. Should I drop Actuarial Science & focus on Finance (single major) while...
gpa question for SA
Hi All, I am applying for SA positions in BB in NYC . So I am from a non-target but pretty prestigious liberal arts college. I connected to some alum who is willing to give my resume to the HR. I am wondering what does it take to get a first round interview? What is the GPA cut-off if I do not have...
Just Finished A Horrendous Term...
EDIT: Forget it. No point in crying about it. Just gotta keep trying and pray that my luck turns around
How many hours per week did you spend studying in college
If you remember from college, how many hours did you study outside the classroom? To what degree did this depend on you major or school? Thank You as always
Trading Summer Analyst GPA questions
Hi all, I apologize in advance if this post is a little long but I would really appreciate any help. I currently have a 3.3 GPA; however, I am doing absolutely fantastic this year and would have to do something quite dramatic to not end up with atleast a 3.8 by the end of this semester. With that,...
High School GPA for application
I'm currently in the second stage of an interview process, and the company is asking me to submit an application (resume was turned in by MD).On the application it asks for my high school GPA. I'm sure they wouldn't ask for it if they didn't want it, but do I really need to go back to my HS for a...
Test scores vs. GPA
Here's a question that should make you all feel like you're listening to high school kids again. How much can good test scores offset a poor undergrad gpa? I have been a bit of a fuck-up in my non-major classes 3.2 cumulative vs 3.9 major through sophomore year. On the other hand I have decent test...
yet another GPA question
So I received an offer today but my offer letter says cumulative gpa has to be 3.0. my cumulative gpa is actually 2.985 (three digits).... is this going to be a problem? BTW, I did not list my gpa on my resume so I never lied about anything and the interviews all went great. I also have a ton of...
Listing concentration GPA on resume
Hi all, I go to penn, and am doing a finance concentration. My cumulative gpa is decent, but not a stellar as I would like. Doing a finance concentration means that one takes 6 finance courses, 2 intro and 4 upper level. In my two intro courses, I have a 4.0 average. I wanted to know if it is all...
GPA Resume Accident
Senior in college here; I accidentally overstated my resume GPA by .03 points, 3.55 to 3.58. This was not intentional, and I feel completely retarded. I've accepted a full time position with a top 15 bank and am wondering if anyone has advice on whether to bring this up to anyone or not. My current...
What are my chances at MBB/other top firms?
Hi everyone, I'm a senior in undergrad looking to hopefully get into a top-tier consulting firm as an analyst next year after I graduate. My junior internship was done at a law firm, as I had previously wanted to go to law school after undergrad, but after reassessing my options consulting looks...
