Which uni should I choose?

Hello! Im from a non-EU third world country, I got accepted into BBA program at KU Leuven Belgium and Bachelor in Business and Finance program at Università Cattolica Del Sacro Cuore Italy. Which university or country should I choose for better pay and consulting/IBopportunities. I also want to do MBA in the future in Ivy League schools, so I want to choose an option that will help me reach there. I would appreciate some help.

Based on the highest ranked content on WSO and insights from various threads, making a decision between KU Leuven in Belgium and Università Cattolica Del Sacro Cuore in Italy for a BBA program with an eye towards a future MBA and a career in consulting or investment banking (IB) involves several factors. Here's a breakdown to help guide your decision:

  1. Reputation and Rankings: Both KU Leuven and Università Cattolica Del Sacro Cuore have good reputations, but it's essential to look at specific rankings for their business programs. Generally, higher-ranked universities may offer better visibility to Ivy League MBA admissions committees and employers in consulting and IB.

  2. Location and Network: Consider the countries' financial hubs and consulting scenes. Italy, with Milan as a financial center, and Belgium, with Brussels being a hub for international politics and business, offer different opportunities. The location might influence your internships, networking opportunities, and exposure to the consulting/IB industries.

  3. Alumni Success: Research the success rate of alumni from these programs in entering Ivy League MBA programs and securing positions in consulting or IB. Universities often publish success stories or employment reports that can give you insights into where graduates end up.

  4. Curriculum and Specializations: Look into how each program's curriculum aligns with your interests in consulting and IB. Some programs might offer more relevant courses, specializations, or opportunities for practical experience than others.

  5. International Recognition: Since you're aiming for an Ivy League MBA, consider the international recognition of your undergraduate institution. Universities well-known internationally might give you a slight edge in MBA applications.

  6. Cost and Financial Aid: Don't overlook the financial aspect. Consider tuition fees, living expenses, and the availability of scholarships or financial aid. An education that doesn't leave you in significant debt can be a wise choice in the long run.

  7. Cultural and Personal Fit: Lastly, think about where you'd prefer to live for the next few years. Cultural fit, language, lifestyle, and personal comfort can significantly impact your academic performance and overall experience.

In conclusion, there's no one-size-fits-all answer. It's about weighing these factors based on your priorities and long-term career goals. Both universities can pave the way to prestigious MBA programs and successful careers in consulting or IB, but it's crucial to choose the one that aligns best with your personal and professional aspirations.

Hi, If you are not considering any other universities (HSG, RSM, Bocconi, or even Mannheim, SSE, CBS) I would choose KU Leuven (which is a feeder into consulting).

I know a few people from both SGH and KU Leuven and I have never heard of the Italian university you mentioned. SGH isn't a bad school (and is more affordable), but I think not speaking Polish could be a problem. Even though I think that Italy is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe (definitely my favorite for holidays) and studying there would probably be a fun time, I would not choose this university from a career perspective.

The truth is that none of these universities will allow you to work in IB in London (and even IB in continental Europe would be a huge challenge). It is important that you get involved in lots of extracurricular activities.

Good luck and have a great time studying.
