"If you always put limits on everything you do, physical or anything else, it will spread into your work and into your life. There are no limits. There are only plateaus, and you must not stay there, you must go beyond them." - Bruce Lee

I stopped comparing myself and count my blessings. If I fail, I still have a very comfortable financial cushion from my parents support if I ever need it.

Where I grew up, I can honestly say majority of my classmates in high school grew up in homes that had top 5% net worths vs. average Americans and I knew of neighboring school districts where people had parents in the top 1-3%. I didn't realize how lucky I was until I moved away for college and met people from different parts of the country that had parents living paycheck to paycheck while they took out huge debt to go to college.

No one else can make you realize that certain shit doesn't matter and other shit matters more. Ultimately something happens in your life and your priorities shift. That's about it.

There is nothing wrong with caring about or having a preference of how life turns out. What’s going on is your brain thinks it’s helping you achieve your desired outcome with anxiety and news flash, it’s not helping. The key is to meditate and be more conscious of your thoughts and walk your cognitive functioning through your day to day life to train your brain to react better. It’s a lot of work but worth it.

Currently an upcoming 2024 grad with no full time offers yet (tough job market). I stopped caring about full time after I travelled abroad for spring break with friends. Being in a new/foreign environment def helps you disassociate yourself from your problems. Interacting with locals also helps you realize how small your previous world has been => and how insignificant your problems are in the grand scheme of things (ie as long as you have a backup plan for most of life’s problems, you’ll be fine). By the end of the trip, you won’t find a solution but you will understand yourself better and hopefully be in a better mental place than before.
