Rising sophomore with horrible freshman GPA. Advice needed
Current rising sophomore at a semi target. Unfortunately I finished freshman year with a 3.33 GPA. I just recently learned how early on recruiting happens for junior year SA roles and I have had so much stress this summer because of this. I am going to work my ass off this year but the max GPA I can have by end of sophomore year is around a 3.5-3.6. I feel with this GPA BBs will be a long shot which ties into my question: Is the GPA cutoff different for BB compared to MM IB? If so what is the difference. Any advice in general about what to do is appreciated.
Good luck and hope you get it above the requirements, but you can always add a sem and recruit again for IB.
Not even that bad bro you can get to 3.5+ easy
You're fine- I was in the same situation last year. Had a 3.3 GPA going into sophomore year. This past year I worked my ass off and ended up with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Just got and accepted a 2022 SA offer this past week for a big MM bank that I'm really happy with. My advice: (obviously) work your ass off in class and network as much as you can. You'll likely be asked about your GPA (I was)- be honest and explain what went wrong, and more importantly, how you're fixing it. Just control what you can control. The way I see it, there's always a Wharton kid who has a better GPA, knows technicals down cold, and has access to resources that no one else does. You can differentiate yourself by speaking with as many people as you can and by being someone that they're willing to support through the process. It will be a grind, but that just makes your success that much more satisfying.

I had a 2.64 freshman year and just landed GS TMT, there are ways to get around a bad GPA (networking/experience)

If you aren’t already, take more classes. If 15 credits is normal take 20. And get a 4.0 this fall semester. That is a must no exceptions.
