Advice on breaking in
What’s up Monkeys,
This past month I have had the craziest on set of apprehensions in terms of breaking into investment banking. During my freshman year I was super into pre-law hoping to go into M&A law so my resume reflected that with pre-law clubs and actives. The only finance based experience I have is being a finance assistant at my school - however over the summer I had a change of heart towards IB, I have been grinding technicals and behavioral questions for abt a month now.
A little bit about me I am currently about to go into my Sophomore year at a non-target school with a 3.8 in finance as an “international student” (despite being in the US for 10+ years) However I feel a little hopeless I have a few friends that have already gotten offers at elite IB boutiques and bulge bracket banks and others in the ER and Tech sector. I already have plans on joining my schools finance clubs. However, due to the lack of alumni in IB I have hit a roadblock in terms of networking and I guess the track i’m on in general. I’ve seen a lot of posts saying students without a summer internship freshman year or have a 4.0 will never break in. Any advice would be greatly appreciate.
