I made a superday but was really nervous and didn’t get the offer. Future prospects?
Do I have no chance of being at this bank ever again? The alumni’s really liked me and I made the superday, for some reason I did not receive an offer. I was nervous that day and my delivery for my answers were definitely off. I want to join this firm, however I don’t know if my prospects are shot in terms of interviewing in the future are. Thoughts?
bump also interested - i know consulting firms block you from reapplying for 12-24 months but don’t know if banks and investment firms filter out your apps if you try again in the future
OP will be fine. I interviewed for the same bank for two different roles during the same application cycle. Didn't get the first role, did manage to land the second one. American BB in London.
Both roles were for some of the bank's strongest areas (FO) for what it's worth btw
Did you use the same email for both applications? Thought It’d be bad for HR to see you have already been rejected once
No you do not get blacklisted because you struck out once. This would be silly.
You don’t get black listed but depending on how poorly you did in SD it might be hard to get another one. I understand that might seem like end all be all with 1 bank that you zeroed in on but there’s a chance that it just wasn’t a fit / they had someone who was more crisp, etc. don’t overthink it, use your prep to talk to other shops. It might get you a role, worse case will give you practice
I saw aa role open up. What do I do ?
I had a similar situation when I was interviewing for my internship a few years ago. I made great connections with everyone at the happy hour the night before but was super nervous to blow it during the interview and I didn't get the offer. I asked one of the guys for feedback (was alumni) and he said I was their top choice coming out of the happy hour but then came across as nervous during my interview and there were others who just did better.
A couple of months later they called me back and asked me to go through another superday because they had a few people renege on the offers. Second time around I focused on being confident and comfortable and ending up getting the offer. Definitely a unique situation with them coming back around, but sounds pretty similar to what happened with you. No guarantee you'll have the opportunity at the same firm, but take it as a learning experience for future interviews.
Appreciate the response. Both alumni’s said they want to keep in touch, would it be bad idea to ask them for feedback? Had the superday a while ago in early october but have been in touch with them
Wouldn’t be a bad idea to ask for feedback.
Yeah if you have a decent enough relationship I think it doesn't hurt. Doesn't have to be super formal either, just asking if there's anything they think you could've done better should get the ball rolling.
I saw that the postion opened up. What should I say/do?
Leave it. Apply again for it next cycle.
