Allen & Co, why do you hide?

I'm very curious about Allen and co. Allegedly the best media related I Bank out there and the don't even have a website...

Any ideas as to why they are so private?

Do they recruit through connections alone?

Strikes me as very unusual. Does any other bank do this?

Met an MD there a couple years ago, said they only take people after 2 year analyst stints. This was a couple years ago though, so I'm not contradicting angry_keebler's post.

I've heard they're more hyped up than anything. They are very selective in recruting -- they only hire associates that are promoted analysts from TMT groups.

allen and company is recruiting "a few exceptional candidates" for its FT analyst program this year straight out of undergrad even though traditionally candidates needed "1-2 years at bulge bracket firms"

straight off the posting on a target school OCR page
