Laid off IB Analyst: Go to ER or Pod?

Unfortunately got hit with a layoff/RIF after 2 years of IB at BB. Was transferred to internal strategy role at the same bank.

Interested in transitioning to public equities. Have several friends at pods which sound like compelling opportunities, but I feel like I really don't have enough experience to be successful at a pod. I believe I need a genuine baseline training in public equities, and I had relatively weak deal reps in IB. I've mostly been applying to just ER opportunities. I also possibly see the sell side as being a better fit for me personally. However, am I doing myself a disservice by not at least trying to interview for pods?

Thanks everyone!

Do you have a referral from your friends? Not sure you would pass cold BD screening as a strategy analyst. Can’t hurt to interview if there are opportunities available either way.
