I have been accepted to ESSEC's Master in Finance for the 2023 intake. I am not an EU citizen and I don't speak French, and I was wondering if taking the CFA level 1 would help me land internships and maybe secure a full-time offer in London. If so, I will take it in May, but I'm not entirely sure...
'CFA Level 1 Candidate' appropriate for Non-finance degree graduates?
Is it acceptable for Non-finance degree graduates to display 'CFA Level 1 Candidate' on their resume? I see a strong consensus online that it's viewed negatively, however, what about those that come from untraditional backgrounds trying to break in? I'm considering challenging the CFA Level 1 as a...

CFA Study Hours (that it took you to pass) in relation to alma mater, major, and GPA
Basically I'm studying for the CFA Level 1 right now and everyone puts up a number of hours that they took to study. However, everyone comes from different background and has a different IQ so it would be nice to see some numbers from people who include their alma mater (or general type/"quality" of...

CFA Level 1 Topic Tests
To all the monkeys who have passed their CFA level 1, what is the difficulty of the topic tests offered on the CFAI's website compared to the actual test? I wasn't aware of the topic tests at first and just discovered them after finishing the equity section. I got decent grades on the EOC questions,...
CFA® Level 1 Differing Test Dates
How different are the CFA® level 1 tests by date? For example, will the DEC 2017 test be extremely different than the JUNE 2018 test? I'm just concerned that I won't pass the first time, so already preparing for a back up plan. If the tests aren't super different, would you suggest purchasing the...

CFA...how much does it really cost?
From what I have researched the Program fees are variable...if you enrol early it will cost you less. This is not the problem but initially I thought that since it is so expensive (Enrolment $450 + Early registration fee $650) it would also cover books...now I have heard that I have to purchase...
My guide to passing CFA Level 1
I've posted this a few times as a reply to threads (and a few other forums around the interwebs) but thought I'd put it here too in case anyone finds it useful. I did the December 2014 L1 exam and passed. Here goes: I don’t aspire to any absolute truth or saying that this is by any means the only...

Good Luck CFA® Candidates, but Let's Cut Out the Humble Bragging
Happy CFA® season monkeys! First, let me say good luck to everyone this weekend! I've busting my butt trying to prep for level 2 like most all candidates and I know that the feelings of apprehension and terror are shared by many. That being said, there's some of you out there who have gone a little...
What's the negative impact besides emotional ones from failing CFA L1 twice
I failed the L1 back in Dec 2012. My score was bad (below band 5), and I know the problem = not prepared! This year I come in again and wishing to get it, however, due to life problems and other goals I wanted to achieve this year, I just can’t make it in to do my studies as planned. I was in the...
Schweser QBank really worthwhile?
Hey All, Long time creeper first time poster. I am hoping many of you CFA Candidates, L1s in particular, can help me out with something. As the title reads, is the Schweser QBank really worth it? All of the EOC questions in the Schweser materials seem dramatically easier than the CBOK questions. I...
CFA level 1: cfa practice exams v Kaplan practice exams
I've taken all Kaplan practice tests and scored in the low 80's high 70's. I saved the actual cfa practice exam until the day before and it is kicking my ass. Has anyone else gone through this or is currently going through this. I'm not sure what to make of the large discrepancy in performance.
Changes to CFA Level 1 From 2012 to 2013
I bought the Schweser guides for Dec 2012 but crazy long hours ate into my study times, so I didn't sit for it. What are the changes made to the 2013 curriculum and does it necessitate new study guides? I wrote CFA institute looking for the exact changes and they essentially told me to f-off.

CFA® sucks
CFA® sucks. I started preparing the CFA® Level 1 exam a week ago. I borrowed my friend's SchweserNotes. Reading through this material is painful. I can't imagine using a tenth of this as an investment banking analyst or in most other finance jobs. The exam fee is ridiculous too. $1,000+ to take...
