Where to start? need serious help

I would like to enter the field of Real Estate Finance in Atlanta. However, I'm at a lost of HOW to do it. Furthermore, I'm not the most competitive person out there. I need help.
My story:

- Started working at UPS during undergrad for the tuition reimbursement.
- While working there, was promoted few times, which led to more work hours and less hours for college
- Now a supervisor at UPS, working insane hours & finally have my degree in Economics with a minor in Finance after 6 yrs.
- I hate this job and only continued because of the decent pay and benefits
- My degree is from a state school, and as aforementioned, because of the work hours, my GPA wasn't the best.

I'm in my late 20's and need to be in ATL. I want a career that is related to my degree, such as finance/economics. Also, really interested in real estate, so figure Real Estate Finance is best. If not that, ATL is home to several Fortune 500 companies that could have other finance career options. Plan to get my MBA, but would like to move out of this job first. Just bought a condo and can't really afford to not work or do unpaid internships.

What can I do to obtain a career in this, given my story above? Any other options I should be looking at? Exams to take? I really need help to be competitive. Thanks

are any of your school alumni currently in the CRE industry? if they are you will need to reach out to them with hopes of setting up an informational interview. If not than going back to a school that has a strong alumni network is an option. Due to the fact that real estate revolves around relationships it will be necessary for you have the right opportunities which can come from going back to school.

Also do some research on the different positions in real estate and decide which is the most feasible option for your particular situation.

You're going to have to clairfy what you mean by "real estate finance"

Leasing? Investment Sales? Real Estate Investment Banking? Real Estate Private Equity? Real Estate Investment Trusts? Real Estate Development?

There are tons of options and the paths are a bit different. I would recommend that you get your Real Estate Licence first though. It's really easy (same one you get if you're a housewife selling homes in your spare time) and shows you're interested in the industry.
