TC closer to 400
for a first year associate ?! Source?
Yes but dependent on additional bonus based on fund performance. On a good year ASO 1 is clearing 400, on a bad year closer to 350
For Austin even?
I’ve heard WLB can get pretty bad at Vista as well - can anyone comment on this?
I have limited familiarity with the firm, but 1) I don't think comp is adjusted across any locations (so Austin doesn't get some kind of discounted pay bc of cheaper CoL) and 2) I don't think they have any kinds of insane horror stories like Apollo and firms like that, but any mega fund with that velocity of deal flow is bound to have busy hours
I have a buddy at the Chicago office and they have insane work-from-home policies – he's going to the office once a week lol. Definitely a lot nicer than other megafunds...
How does associate 1 TC reach 400k?

For associates,
Y1: 160/160/50
Y2: 160/160/100
Enjoy.
Do you know how the shadow carry (assuming that is the 3rd #) gets paid?
wouldn’t entirely say it’s 400k+ TC like top comment if it’s only paid out after a certain amount of years (essentially an incentive to stay with the firm)
It gets paid out in increments throughout the year. We receive it all by the end of the year. I would note that the higher comp is a brand-new initiative by the firm to attract/keep more junior talent.
Thanks so much for this! Do you know what VP comp looks like at the firm? Appreciate your insight.
What does analyst comp split look like?
thanks. so VP comp surely has to be higher than $500 (250+250) then?
^^

Bit late here - does the carry get paid out in cash or just “$X DAW” carry to your name that would eventually be vested, given you stay at the firm for that time period
