Recruiting for Tech vs. Generalist UMM/MF PE in NY

Just finished up my first year at an EB (MOE, CVP, PWP) and planning to do on-cycle 2025. I'm looking for tech UMM / MF buyout roles in NY. Ultimately, geography is more important to me than industry, i.e. I'd rather stay in NY and do a generalist role than move to SF for tech.

With this in mind, how should I frame this to HHs? Is it more optimal to say that my preference is generalist, given a lot of the tech roles are in SF? Moreso thinking about if other candidates are more gung ho generalist, HHs would place preference on them for those roles.

Thanks in advance!
