What should I do? Need advice - job recruitment

Hi all, hope you guys are doing well! Just wanted to reach out and ask you guys for some brief advice.

For context: I'm a 22y/o finance masters student at a tier 1 UK business school, and I did my undergrad at a Tier 1 business school in Milan. I did a gap year during BSc and Masters where I did two 6 month internships: one in markets (at a known bank) and another one in PE (small boutique). I have secured a 6-month PE internship (think IK, PAI, Astorg, etc.) which I will start once my masters finishes (ends in December). I want to work in PE but I don't mind going through the classic IB track to get there --> I just want a job. Academics are good, and GMAT is solid.

Side note: my internship doesn't offer conversion, I have the right to work in the UK.

My questions for you all is: what do I do in January 2024? Do I aim to do an IB internship and hopefully convert? Do I try IB full-time? PE full time? another PE internship that could potentially convert? I could also try and recruit for March 2024 FT intake?

As you can tell, I'm a little bit confused. Thanks in advance for the time and advice

I think in this market, the hard (but sincere) recommendation would be to try applying for everything - it wouldn't be good to have a gap in your career. I'd focus on FT applications, but certainly supplement this with internships that will convert. I'd have a backup plan too (e.g. something with a Big 4 perhaps - your profile sounds very strong, so it sounds like you'll be able to get something in banking / PE, but always better to have peace of mind).

That said, your colleagues at your PE internship house should be happy to help you, and will hopefully be able to connect you with bankers or other PE professionals. I'd also reach out to recruiters who focus on the junior end of the market to get their advice also.
