GPA to UK equivalents
I am a student from the UK currently studying in the US, but I am looking to head back to London post-grad. I am currently a sophomore, and with SA recruiting about to kick in the next few months, I was wondering how firms in the UK transfer GPAs. Is a 3.7+ = 1st; 3.3+ = 2.1; 3=2.2 .... etc?

This is a pretty rough guideline that should give you an idea.
ok so i was pretty spot on thanks a bunch
That table suggests that a 1st is more like a 4.0 GPA...
nah it says 2:1 is up 3.3-3.7 which implies that everything up to a 4.0 is a 1st from 3.7. Otherwise getting a first would be near impossible in terms of US GPA
based on what you are saying then what is a 3.8? you get me? especially if a 2.1 is a 3.7 which is 65-69. then a 70 is a first
It basically says that the lower half of a 2:1 (60-64) is 3.4-3.7, and the upper half of a 2:1 (65-69) is 3.7-4.0. If I were to hazard a guess, 3.8 is a high 2:1 (c.68) and wouldn't pose any problems recruiting-wise. Recruiters in the UK seem to be a lot less picky about marginal differences in grades than their counterparts in the US.
Firms seem to do it differently, but generally no lower than 3.3 for 2:1, and some firms just use 2:1 as a UK cutoff and 3.5 as a US one.
