Going solo and working for a consulting firm at the same time?
So I've developed my own business cards and am going after clientele that my current firm deems too small to engage with.
If they find out I'm moonlighting on the side, they will get mad? I feel like they're paying for my skillset and they have all rights to it, but I can easily get 2.5x my current hourly rate doing smaller gigs on the side as a 1099. 10 hours a week.
Most firms don't care if you moonlight in an unrelated business, as long as it doesn't impact your work.
"Moonlighting" doing the same thing that your firm does will almost certainly get you fired.
