Based on the most helpful WSO content, there are indeed differences between Canadian pension funds, especially when it comes to culture, compensation, and prestige.
In terms of culture, Canadian pension funds are generally known for their good work-life balance and internal mobility. However, it's important to note that they can be very political.
When it comes to compensation, it's typically capped and regular income, which can be significantly lower than at a similar size fund. The gap between Investment Banking and Private Equity compensation becomes more noticeable at the associate level.
In terms of prestige, Canadian pension funds are among the most respected in the world. However, the quality of senior professionals can vary, with some funds having a lower quality than others.
It's also worth noting that the pressure to deploy capital at these funds can make it harder to spend time on portfolio companies.
Remember, these are general observations and the specifics can vary from fund to fund.

It’s more group dependent for culture and ‘prestige’. For comp, on the PE side I think OPTrust pays the most. Are you looking at public or private side?
