People are very friendly and supportive
They were more interested in your work ethics and genuine interest in the industry. They want someone who is really eager to work in the industry, be able to pull of 80+ hours, and still likeable to work with.
Since I networked with them prior to the interview/recruiting process, it was easier for me to demonstrate my interest in their firm and passion for banking. When I met one VP in his office, he was genuinely curious how much I knew about LBO and what financial sponsors (his group) do. At that time, I was sort of unprepared and didn't wanted to bs. He was very understanding and actually gave me an half an hour lecture about it. Along the process, I asked him inquisitive questions and showed that I'm quick at picking up things and learning. Overall, my interview process with the New York office was enjoyable and everyone I met seemed personable, hard working, and passionate.
I go to a non-target school for them so it helped that I networked with them in advance. If Wells Fargo does not recruit on campus for your school, I highly suggest that you reach out months in advance for an office visit.
