Investment Banking Analyst

I attended a non-target school for SunTrust Robinson Humphrey, but a Managing Director at the firm is a close family friend of mine. He was able to introduce me to multiple people at the firm and get me in contact with HR. I had a short phone interview with HR that consisted of a few fit questions and then was offered a spot in one of their two superdays. I had five interviews that lasted for roughly 45 minutes each. I was interviewed by associates, VP's, and MD's. Each interview varied a little bit. All included a mixture of fit and technical questions, but some were weighted more heavily to one or the other. The vibe I got from each interviewer also varied. The MD's were generally more easy-going and the VP's were a little rougher. The president said before the interviews started that they were only looking for fit, but I'd say that being at a target school is also extremely important. I got along very well with my interviewers and did well on the technicals, yet was not extended an offer. Overall, the place has a laid back atmosphere compared to other banks I've spoken with in NY and Houston.
