Please describe the interview / hiring process.
The first interviewer was an associate at the firm, very nice and agreeable fellow. The next interviewer was a lawyer by background, who came to the firm via a white shoe law firm. He was extremely arrogant. Things basically fell apart when he attempted to quiz me on valuation skills. He asked the typical stuff - how many ways are there to value a company, what are they, walk me through them, etc... He asked about ways to determine terminal value in a dcf and started to really get into the weeds of a DCF. In the end, I - stupid me - indicated that there are a few different ways to determine FCF and that using APV is theoretically better because it accounts for a varying capital structure. At this point, the lawyer had no clue what I was talking about, said "this is not how we do it here", and the rest is history.
