Application is done through the Morgan Stanley online application form.
The Winter Internship is mainly for Australian students to match the Australian summer season. The process is run separately from the Sydney office interviews. Applicants can also apply for Singapore office winter internship.
Interviews consist of two phone interviews at the Associate / VP level and a final interview in person where a VP is sent in from Hong Kong.
No assessment centres or psychometric testing is required so the interview process is comparatively straight forward.
Chinese skills (speaking, reading and typing) are definitely an advantage (and would say speaking should be a minimum selection requirement) for IBD coverage groups of M&A. Not a definite requirement for ECM / DCM teams.
Markets knowledge is important but no specific questions relating to Chinese market per se.
As with most interviews basic DCF knowledge is assumed.
