Summer Analyst

Networked and submitted my resume thru contacts. Got an interview 3 weeks later with an associate. Interviewer assumed I did not know much technicals given my liberal arts background so only asked me softball tech questions, which I nailed. He then proceeded to ask harder ones, and I continued to do well. Had a great conversation with him. He told him about the placement opportunity at Moelis NY. Although it's not as great as the Moelis LA office, people still get placed into megafunds or top MM funds. He himself will be joining Oaktree in a year. What's strange was that a day later, HR told me and said that since people who they already extended offers all accepted, they could no longer pursue my candidacy anymore. So it seems like I was a backup for them in the first place (I don't feel too bad about since I'm not really from a prime target school).
