Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I received an invitation to interview for a full-time position after being chosen as a finalist for the McKinsey Insight Healthcare workshop (which I did not attend). Multiple interview times and dates were offered (morning/afternoon sessions), and I am even aware of alternative dates being arranged on-campus at Johns Hopkins (my university) for schedule conflicts. Travel to the interview was paid for by the firm and booked through an online agency by the candidate. The interview day started with a one hour multiple-choice problem solving test; 3 examples are provided online at the company's website. Timing is critical, since there are 26 questions which may require calculations (without a calculator). I have also heard (unconfirmed) that the evaluation is partly psychometric, in that the interviewers are watching to see your reactions during/following the test as well as evaluating your numerical score. Afterwards, I and the other candidates were given a brief group overview of the case interview process, and subsequently divided into groups of four to go over a practice case in a group during two consecutive sessions. In each, we took turns answering queries about the case, and discussing the general process of breaking down these sorts of analyses.
