Investment Banking Analyst
General Interview Information
Interview Details
2. First Round - consisted of one interview with three interviewers (an analyst, associate and director). Started off with a broad behaviour question which covered my previous internship experience, motivation for investment banking etc. Technical questions were asked about what valuation methods and metrics I would use for different industries (e.g. technology, real estate). I was asked to break down a recent Australian M&A transaction - I was probed for understanding about strategy, shareholder reaction and M&A process. Then I was asked about a recent political issue where I talked about a recent government infrastructure policy.
3. Final Round - A group case study and presentation. We were given a laptop and asked to put together a slide deck for what was essentially a defence pack at a critical point of a previous transaction. This involved building a DCF model, doing trading/transaction comps and other analysis around strategy and process considerations. The group then presented to the 'Board' and dealt with Q&A.
First round interview calls were made hours after the application deadline closed. Final round interviews offers were made on the evening following the first round. Offer was made the next day.
