Transactions & Restructuring Summer Intern

I did some networking with KPMG at the beginning of fall semester. I talked with 3 different employees, all alumni from my school. I did informational interviews on the phone with two of them, and talked with a director of the T&R group at three separate events leading into recruiting. I got an on-campus first round interview which was a pretty basic 1-on-1 behavioral interview. Typical questions which included tell me about yourself, a time you were a leader of a team, a time you dealt with conflict, a successful team example. There was a lot of emphasis on working well in teams, so make sure you are prepared to answer those and have a few good stories with concrete results. I got myself tripped up on an answer where I started rambling and didn't link the story to what the question was addressing, which all but ended my chances to move on. There were no technical questions. The KPMG T&R team, specifically the Chicago office, really puts a lot of emphasis on fit, so I advice you network and make sure they know you who you are before going into the interview.
