Equity Research Internship
General Interview Information
Interview Details
I had a brief 20 minute phone interview and then a few days later was called to book an interview in the New York office. I recall that the phone interview was very informal, and if anything just a fit or confirmation of people that they screened from the initial application which was fairly in depth. From what I gather, there were only interviews in person for one day meaning they only looked at a handful of people from the pool who applied online.
The in person interview was rather informal and included no technical questions, but rather, tried to gauge my interest in markets and how I thought about things. A lot was devoted to just discussing things on my resume. Everyone in the office was friendly. I spoke with two different members of the team, which was fairly small ~30 people on the floor. I didn't receive an offer, which I attribute to my own fumbling around explaining a certain research project I worked on in high school which I dragged out too long in the discussion in combination with knowing the person who received the position who was very qualified as well. The experience was very positive, and I learned a lot from it.
