Associate

My initial communications were with a contact I had at the firm, who referred me to a phone call with a VP in his group. I had a phone interview with the VP and then was invited to Chicago to interview with the rest of the group. I met with the MD, two VP's an Associate and two analysts. It was mostly focused on fit and whether I would be a good addition to the team, as well as whether I'd be able to take on true Associate responsibilities, i.e. leading drafting of CIM's, communicating with management teams, supervising analysts, etc. I'd had 3 years of experience as an Analyst at a smaller shop and they wanted to ensure I could handle a jump to somewhat larger transactions and heavier deal flow. Seemed that the group was somewhat undermanned and everybody was working very hard. Ultimately they went with another candidate and I didn't receive an offer.
