Investment Banking Analyst

The interviews consisted of 3 rounds. The first round was a telephone interview with a recruiter from the Fresh Minds Recruitment Agency. This was mostly fit and questions related to why Greenhill or why M&A. The second round was a video interview via Skype with Fresh Minds again, again discussing my motivation and some technicals (valuation). The AC consisted of two parts: The morning and the afternoon. The morning consisted of 2 Interviews (for me with a VP and an Associate). The first interview covered general commercial awareness and personality stuff. The 2nd interview was more geared towards the technical side of things and discussed valuation, as well as math brainteasers. After lunch a number of candidates were sent home and the rest of us had interviews with 4 MDs. The questions were mostly industry and strategy related.

In retrospective I can say that they put a very large emphasis on mental math ability. The brainteasers were all questions like what's 55x43 or 7.5x13. If you get one of these wrong or take longer than (roughly) 10 seconds you're done.
