Securities Summer Analyst

Applied for the position online (GS S&T HK SA). Was contacted for two separate phone interviews with members from different desks. The interviews were almost all standard fit-based questions. One of them did ask me a few questions in Chinese to confirm that I can indeed speak the language. After that, I was scheduled to go into their main office to meet with members of their HK team.

The superday consisted of 3 sepearate 1 on 1 interviews. I interviewed with two people in sales and one in trading. True to form, the salespeople were more cordial and asked mostly fit-based questions, and I generally felt good about it. The interview with the trader, however, was a different story. He was much tougher on me and asked me very technical questions, and even a quick mental math question to see how I would act under pressure.

Overall, I would say that it was a good learning experience to be put in a situation like that.
