PWM Summer Associate

Goldman recruits for their PWM division out of top MBA programs. For me, the interview process began when I was invited to a special "camp" for diversity MBA candidates prior to starting business school. The talent pool they attracted was very high. They seemed to be recruiting most aggressively for PWM and operations, with IB the only other division presenting, and much less attention from them.

I continued to follow up with my contacts from the school and from this event during my first semester. I dropped my resume during the appropriate period and was shortlisted for one of very few open interview slots. I think my main error was thinking that I had a special advantage coming from a PWM background. When hiring MBAs from top schools, they care less about your background, especially for PWM. It is a must that you do your research, but personality fit is most important. You are being hired for a sales role, they want to know you can present well in front of wealthy clients.
