Please describe the interview / hiring process.
The DB process that I interviewed in was originally on-campus MBA recruiting. Around the time of the on-campus due date, they changed it to resume collection only. I had limited contact from then on for about 2-3 weeks, calling school alums and trying to get information.

I figured things weren't going well, but out of the blue got an initial phone interview, which consisted of a lot of technical questions (walk through an M&A model you built, walk through the assumptions, walk through a DCF, etc.). They were very interested in my summer internship work and previous experience.

After another week of hearing nothing, I was invited to a superday. Here I did four sets of two-on-one interviews. As a hire with former finance experience, they were very interested in my past work. Some of the more junior guys tended to ask more technical questions (how do you do a DCF, how can you value tech companies with no revenues) whereas more senior guys were primarily interested in my background, why banking and why DB. Another topic that came up, since this was for technology, was my views on the technology market (describe a tech company you like, talk about a tech stock you like). The interviewers were all nice guys and even though I was there effectively all day, it was a good, not overly arduous experience.

The interview was on a Friday, I got the call for the offer on a Monday. All in all, I ended up taking another offer. I was impressed with the people I met. The office was nice and they all seemed to be working on interesting deals and to be quite busy.

As always, make sure you know your story well. Make sure you have “why banking?” down well! Also, make sure you have some good info to talk about re: tech and tech companies.
