Shared Services Summer Analyst

This past fall (2011) I began networking with alumni in finance and got in touch with one who worked in their Shared Services division in a risk function. He submitted an employee referral for the Shared Services summer internship program and I was contacted for a webcam interview towards the end of January. The interview was one-on-one with a VP of their finance group for about thirty minutes. I prepared for the standard behavioral questions and made sure I was aware of the latest market news. After completing this interview, I did not hear back from them for over two weeks. I finally got a call inviting me up for a second/final round interview in NYC the following day but had to turn it down. Overall, the interview process was fine. The interviewer was interesting to talk to although it was an awkward medium between in person and on the phone. It would have been better if they had gotten back to me sooner and given me more notice about traveling up to New York within 24 hours.
