Investment Banking Summer Analyst

Villanova (non-target) alum at CS reached out to Business School teachers for recommendations for their S&T division. They would conduct first round interviews with the recommended students and either send them to the superday via employee recomendation, or not. Most students who got the interview were recommended by teachers, yet CS had to post the position on the career website in order to hold OCR, and that is how I got in (no teacher recommendation). CS had about 8 people come down and interview close to 50 candidates. I was able to reach out to people at CS and ask them about pointers prior to my interview, they said it would be all fit. They also gave me some insight into culture; no jerk policy, no banking politics or face time necessary, etc. My interview was with Fixed Income Sales guy and Treasury guy. Since they were looking to recommend people up to the next round, they were mostly concerned with fit, and that's how the interview played out, but they spent more time talking than asking questions. In the end, they ended up taking 3 candidates for superday interviews (2 shared services, 1 S&T).
