IB Analyst
General Interview Information
Interview Details
On campus, the format was a two on one interview with a current analyst and VP. Started with the basics, "walk me through your resume" and "why IB." Asked some simple technical questions as well (such as walk me through a DCF). However, the technicals lasted no more than 5 minutes since I was not a finance or econ major -- they really only wanted to see some effort put into the interview. Most the interview was then spent with fit questions, "what is your favorite thing to do for fun" or why IB questions "I see you did consulting over last summer, why do you want to do IB now?" Overall a good experience and the analyst and I seemed to hit it off well.
Second round:
Never occurred. Was supposed to meet them the week after my first round, however the MD and VP leading the process were called away for a last second meeting. Asked to reschedule -- skip ahead to the next week and I'm in NYC for a different interview on a Thursday and they ask me to come to Chicago the next morning. Explained my situation, and was told everything was okay and the interview would get pushed to the next week. Out of nowhere I get a call Friday asking if I'd like the job based off of the feedback from the first round. Apparently more travel would further push back my second round and they wanted to find someone before they missed out.
