Business Analyst Intern

First had a brief phone interview, nothing too out of the ordinary here, nothing technical either. Just general behavioral questions, like interest in the company and a time you worked in a group, etc. Next had to complete an online skills test that was also really easy, just analyzing graphs, basic algebra calculations. For final interview they set us up in the Hilton in Richmond. The next morning consisted of two case interviews and one behavioral (each 45 minutes I think). The behavioral was a lot like the phone interview, just a big longer.

The first case was consisted of very basic math, and decision making. Scenario was that you are the CEO of a shipping company and needed to decide whether or not to invest in more ships to increase revenue. They gave you some numbers to calculate expected profit and you had to discuss other factors to consider when making the decision. The interviewer was really helpful in walking you through the problem and there to help if you made any math errors.

The second case was a little harder for me personally because i wasn't a business undergrad because it consisted of calculating NPV. I didn't know what I was really doing but again, the interviewer helped explain NPV and how to calculate and worked me through the problem. I think this case was the reason I didn't get the offer for internship but studying basic NPV calculations beforehand would've definitely been helpful. Overall not a terribly hard interview but it was my first case interview and I struggled a bit. Make sure you talk out your thought process, they like to hear this.
