Summer Analyst PMG

Applied through OCR and got an interview towards the end of recruiting season for summer internships. Interview went really well and was invited for a super day shortly after. The super day was mostly people from Columbia and a few from Cornell from what I remember. It consisted of 4 interviews with different PMs/research analysts across the PMG Fixed Income trading floor. It was extremely macro focused (even my interview with a high yield guy was all about macro stuff) and I think I did well because I was able to speak intelligently about the macro events going on at the time (mostly Euro crisis). I had to pitch a trade in at least one of the interviews; I went with a directional FX trade and supported it very well I guess because the interviewer loved it. They were also very focused on "why BlackRock?" Got a call from HR that same day at night with the offer.

The intern class had a huge Penn and Columbia presence, although schools were more varied among the 12 or so interns in PMG. People were really chill and I got to work on some really interesting things throughout the summer, little to no BS work aside from the projects organized by the recruiters. Hours were not bad at all, usually 7 to 7, but you would usually get to leave earlier on Fridays. No weekends for the most part. Great place to stay long term.
