Portfolio Management Analyst

A friend forwarded my resume internally within the firm for an analyst position within the portfolio management group (PMG). I had an initial phone interview with the HR, which I felt was more a communication skills test since there were no technical questions, though it did include some behavioral questions (eg. Give an example of an instance where you had a conflict with a team member & how you resolved it).

The phone interview was on a wednesday & i got an email from the HR on Friday saying that I had cleared the interview & was being invited for a super day at the office.

The super day consisted of 6 back-to-back interviews. The first 5 interviews were with directors in the fixed income team, whereas the final interview was with an MD. The interviews were fairly technical in nature, and you could make out from the demeanor of the interviewers that they knew their subject REALLY well. Since I had been referred by my friend, I knew what to expect in the interview, so had prepared well. I got an offer a coupld of days after the final interviews, but I rejected it since I got another offer with a similar firm but better pay.
