Please describe the interview / hiring process.
I obtained the interview through networking. I reached out to a handful of current employees at the office, one of which responded. I conducted an informational interview with him around Jul/Aug, then kept in contact with him throughout the following months. Through my persistence in following up with him, he informed me that he did the following: entered my resume in their database and noted that I demonstrated early interest in Barclays; referred me to talk to an analyst to learn more about the group culture. In late Dec, I was contacted by a VP for the group via email informing me that I was a top candidate for that office and that I should complete the online application through their website, indicate that the SF office was my first choice, and send me a confirmation email after I was finished. I completed the online application before Christmas. Around mid-Jan, I was contacted conduct two phone interviews, one with an analyst and one with an associate. Overall, the office was very flexible with the phone interviews since I had to reschedule last minute to attend Superdays with other firms. The phone interviews were conducted back to back and one-on-one. One interviewer focused on technicals, while the other focused on behavioral and fit. I was contacted a few days after the phone interviews with an invitation to their Superday. They were holding two different Superdays, a week apart. I chose to attend the second Superday. Barclays sponsored my flight, lodging (night before), meals, and transportation. At the Superday itself, there were 7 other candidates and, to my understanding, around 10 other candidates at the previous Superday. We were all introduced to a few key people in the conference room, then led around the office for four, thirty-minute interviews. My interviews were all one-on-one. The interviews themselves tested my on both my technical knowledge, general company/deals/market knowledge, and also my personality and fit. At the end of the Superday, we all had a chance to meet with the analysts in an informal environment for about 30 minutes. After my interviews, I was contacted that same night while I was at the airport waiting for my flight home with an offer. I immediately verbally accepted.
