What did the interview consist of?
1 on 1 Interview
Please describe the interview / hiring process.
Post Spring Week - fast track interview.
Following on from spring week I was fast tracked to a day of interviews for the SA position commencing the following summer, i.e. summer 2012.
The day consisted of multiple interviews from individuals working in the various IBD groups with varying levels of seniority from associates to directors. Each interview lasted approx 45 minutes and in total there were probably 5/6 interviews per candidate.
The interviews varying little between each group in terms of structure though of course the questions did change. The first half of the interview consisted of "fit" style questions, along the lines of greatest weakness, time you've shown leadership, view of the firm etc.. Following that we were then asked technical questions from the general - talk to me about the price of oil - to the specific - how would you value a utilities company.
After the interviews were over we were asked to rank the groups in terms of our preferences. The interviewers did the same with the candidates and we were then matched to specific groups when our preferences and theirs aligned.
The day concluded with successful candidates receiving a phone call approx 2 hours after leaving the venue.
