Please describe the interview / hiring process.
The assessment centre at BAML consisted of two face to face interviews, a group exercise, a presentation, and a numerical test. The face to face interviews were particularly challenging as they were overly technical and had a series of brainteasers which were very difficult. My interviewers were not particularly friendly and made and offered no banter whatsoever. They were very to the point and I got the feeling they were working against me rather than traditionally sparring. The group exercise was easy and placed six of us on a faux committee in charge of choosing a sustainable development initiative for the bank. The best way to become noticed is to keep track of time, make suggestions rather than only responding to them, and be confident in the figures and analysis you provide. The presentation was a stock pitch, make sure you have done research prior to the AC on this area. You will get grilled on the macroeconomic factors that affect the stock price and if they know the stock then expect some technical questions. Finally the numerical test was not a standard one at all. Exchange rates scrolled across the screen and live news reports played alongside each question. You are responsible for identifying the relevant pieces of information and working out the numerical questions using it. It is very tight for time and quite challenging.
