Summer ACI

Bain came on-campus for a networking event relatively late in the recruiting cycle. Standard networking followed; once the interviews were decided, we were invited to a pre-interview networking session similar to my other consulting firm experiences. Bain actually had what seemed to be a less organized presence this year, as our Bain mentors were assigned only 3 days prior to the interview. We met our potential interviewers at the dinner. The first round interviews were 30 minutes long (short for consulting) and were back-to-back.

It's important to note that the interests of the interviewer play a huge role in what sort of content you will get in your case. I'll give an example in my interview questions portion, but suffice it to say that you should get to know each potential interviewer well; this can be a challenge given the limited span of the pre-interview dinner. For example, one of my interviewers did an 8 month externship at Bain Capital; though he mentioned it in passing, this happened to be the crux of his case question.
