  2. Prostitution - Have to work night and weekends, good money

  3. Drug dealer - Significant travel, sometimes work weekends, good money

Hahaha that was funny to ready, particularly the robber/prostitute one. But seriously, why do you want to even work on Wall Street if you want a work/social life balance? That's like a complete opposite of the Wall Street culture. The only career that comes to mind is Investment Management.

Go to leveraged sellout and watch the video that they have posted on bankers vs. consultants. Hilarious....

The way you should look at a career choice is based on your interests. IBD and Trading are very different, someone that is great at IBD would probably be an awful trader. In any of the industries you mentioned, if you're not exceptional at what you do, you're going to be paid poorly or lose your job. Traders and Bankers make about the same, and traders work half the hours, then why would anyone be a banker?

In addition, the employment market remains extremely selective. Just because PE fits nicely on your pay/work-life balance scale doesn't mean that you can snap your fingers and get that job. Take some time, do some research and self-reflection.

That's the one thing I don't understand about art thefts... generally speaking the more valuable a piece of art is the more illiquid it's going to be b/c of how rare/unique it is.

I imagine the art gets traded around the underground a bit but ultimately it becomes impossible to sell to a legitimate dealer/auction.

Somehow they do it. There was a celebrity a while back that reported that he had a stolen Van Gogh or something over his fire place. I think it was Speilberg maybe.

Anyway, he apparently aquired it with no knowledge that it was hot. How, don't know, but it's apparently very doable. Once it's in someone's collection, it would be pretty hard to fix unless that owner did a search on missing paintings or published his collection on a public forum.

you guys have made a mess of my query and i can on lol.

plz some serious replies , i am just asking which makes most money and which offers best worklife balance in normal economic conditiond

afz, the best answer has already been given. These careers are vastly, vastly different despite the fact that they are generally lumped together in conversation. You really need to pick what interests you the most. Besides, compensation and work/life balance varies per FIRM per INDUSTRY making the answer to your question more complex than a simple ranking. At the end of the day, each of these career paths pays exceptionally well and none of them have a good work/life balance.

As to the other people, you completely left out "Lottery Winner." As a lottery winner, you don't need to worry about being sought out by the police.

guys i agree with u that it is difficult to compare these careers but i insist that u can compare thses on the criteria i gave ( eg you may not b able to compare engineers job with a doctor but you can say that who earns more out of college on average ,) i hope you guys get. basically do vc and pe pay more than ibd that so many people want to enter these sectors after a stint in ib ?
