Job in finance entry level other then a Financial Advisor

Just graduated with a BA in Economics and a concentration in Finance with a GPA of 3.5. I went to Moravian college and unfortunately going to network events has not produced much luck I have not been able to find Alumni who is this field. My internship was at MassMutual as a Financial Advisor as i was not able to find anything else i just took that internship. I have been applying allot on Indeed, Linkdin, Zip recruiter and so on. I have not been able to even get a phone call back yet from any firm. The jobs posted on my school website are all Financial Advising jobs. I have been applying allot in King of Prussia Philadelphia and New York which is my target place to be. I have tried applying to some lower level firms like Sei Investments and so on if any one knows any other better search engines or ways of trying to get an interview. Please thank you.

Hello,

If you want to break into banking I would suggest looking into Back Office roles. Learn the business first and then see what interests you. If you do not have a degree from a top tier school then it will be very hard to break into front office positions in NY. Hope this Helps.

Good Luck

Not to rip on you by any means, but it seems that English is not your first language and that shows in your grammar.

IF you are sending messages out to people (cover letters, LinkedIn messages, etc.) consider having a friend review your language beforehand.

It's a very tough market out there right now as I am in a similar position as you. I suggest taking some courses in finance/investing so that you can make your resume more MARKETABLE to perspective employers. Which schol did you go to and what was your GPA?

Look into hedge funds and mutual funds. They often have dedicated client-facing teams that interface between fund managers, researchers, and clients. You will get a solid understanding of how the fund and the industry work. In fact, this can be a successful career in itself, but it will also allow you to transition to a variety of other roles with an MBA, or even without (if you're lucky).
